Why be an Ethical Traveler?

Travel is now the world’s biggest industry – even bigger than oil. Mindful, politically aware travelers have the power to influence government policies—especially in developing countries, where travel and tourism are growing economic forces.

Ethical Traveler is a global alliance of travelers dedicated to protecting the environment and safeguarding human rights. Through our easy-to-join action campaigns, we unite the community of travelers to take a stand on child sex trafficking, deforestation, coral reef destruction, and many other crucial issues. We also offer an enlightening News section, an annual report on the world’s most ethical travel destinations, and our well-known “13 Tips for the Accidental Ambassador.”

ET believes that everyone who has traveled feels a unique sense of stewardship for this world. And who better to protect this planet, than those of us who love to explore it?
